Arunachal Pradesh for travel partners

High passes, Buddhist monasteries and tribal valleys. Arunachal needs permits and careful road planning, which is exactly where a ground partner earns its keep.

Best timeOctober to April for clear views; Sela Pass can see heavy snow in winter. March to May is pleasant in the valleys.
GatewayGuwahati or Tezpur by road for the Tawang circuit; Donyi Polo airport (Itanagar) for central Arunachal.
PermitsIndian guests need an Inner Line Permit (ILP). Foreign guests need a Protected Area Permit (PAP). We arrange both.

Where we take your guests

  • Tawang — Tawang Monastery, one of the largest in India, plus the War Memorial and lakes near the border (permit-dependent).
  • Sela Pass — A high mountain pass, at roughly 4,170 m, on the road to Tawang, with Sela Lake beside it.
  • Dirang and Bomdila — Overnight stops on the Tawang route: hot springs, monasteries and apple orchards.
  • Ziro Valley — Home of the Apatani people, rice fields and pine hills; the Ziro Festival of Music is held in autumn.
  • Mechuka — A remote valley in Shi Yomi district (once part of West Siang), for guests who want something far off the usual track.
  • Bhalukpong — The entry point from Assam, on the Kameng river.

Most Tawang trips start and end in Guwahati, with a night at Bhalukpong or Dirang each way.
