  • Majuli — A large river island on the Brahmaputra, known for its satras (Vaishnavite monasteries) and mask-making.
  • Manas National Park — A UNESCO site on the Bhutan border, quieter than Kaziranga.
  • Sivasagar — Ahom-era monuments such as Rang Ghar, Talatal Ghar and Sivadol.
  • Tea estates — Heritage bungalow stays around Jorhat and Dibrugarh.

Assam combines naturally with Meghalaya, and with Arunachal Pradesh via Tezpur and Bhalukpong.
