Good to know

  • Indian guests need an Inner Line Permit (ILP); foreign guests need a Protected Area Permit (PAP). We arrange both; the ILP is checked at Bhalukpong.
  • Bumla Pass needs a local permit in Tawang and depends on weather and army clearance; it is confirmed the evening before.
  • Sela Pass and Bumla Pass can close in heavy snowfall. Carry heavy woollens, gloves and windproof jackets.
  • The route climbs quickly to high altitude. Guests with heart or breathing conditions should check with a doctor before travel.
  • Photography is restricted in army and border areas.
  • Indian guests need no permit for Assam; carry a government photo ID for every hotel check-in.
  • The elephant safari is subject to forest department allotment, so book it early.
  • The Brahmaputra cruise depends on weather and season.

Hotels are subject to availability at the time of booking; a similar category is provided otherwise. Mountain sightseeing depends on permits, weather and road conditions.
